Non-Destructive Testing Group News
Computed radiography reveals with great detail the well preserved fossilized insides of a 77 million year old dinosaur nick-named Leonardo.
NDT Group became involved with a team of paleontologists from the University of Colorado at Boulder during a dig in Montana. The new computed radiographic images captured extremely clear digital pictures of the insides of Leonardo.
This new technoloy allowed the scientists to investigate with great clarity the inside gut cavity of a Duck-Billed Dinosaur who was a plant eater. This was the first opportunity for the scientific team to comfirm and investigate the fossilized soft tissue and chewed up plants in Leonardo's visceral cavity.
The computed radiographic process with its penetrating radiation ability gave the scientists a new experience and a sucessful means of capturing images of formally living material through many thick layers of sandstone.
